Can i receive a refund if i cannot run?

Yes, those who register and decide to not run before 30 April can receive a 50% refund of the registration cost.  No refunds after April 30th, as most race registration fees have gone to race costs by then. You may also opt to transfer your registration to another person. This can be accomplished on Ultrasignup up to two weeks before raceday.

Can i have a pacer during the race?

No, our permits mandate race participants only on course. We run the risk of not being able to do the race again if we surpass our permitted # of people on course.

Can I switch to a different race after I have already registered?

Yes, you can do this through Ultrasignup up to two weeks before raceday.

Can I transfer My race bib to someone else?

Yes, you can do this through Ultrasignup up to two weeks before raceday.

Where do I find a map and elevation profile?

This can be found on this website under Course Description, then choose the distance you are running. Click on “Show Map” to populate the map. To access the elevation profile click on the icon in the corner of the map. This map is interactive. You are also able to download the GXP file for each race once you register/sign-in for free on the Hello Drifter website.

Can I SWITCH DISTANCES?

If you need to drop down in distance and there is no waitlist for the lower distance of choice, you may reach out to us blackmountaintrailracing@gmail.com to request a distance change. You will not receive a refund for the difference. If you wish to drop-down in distance on race-day, this may be possible, but please do email us to let us know. If you want to run a more challenging distance and there is no waitlist yet, please email us and we will charge the difference.

Can I roll my entry over to a future year?

If you need to rollover your entry until the following year due to injury, pregnancy, or inability to participate due to family obligations, please provide information on your need to rollover by emailing blackmountaintrailracing@gmail.com.

why am i on a waitlist?

The waitlist means the distance is full. We will send invites to those on the waitlist as spaces open up.

why am i still on the waitlist?

The waitlist will close the day after registration closes (this year, waitlist closes 6/19/25). If you are still on the waitlist by midnight on this date, you are unfortunately not getting into the race. Please do not show up race morning expecting to get in, as our permit strictly limits us to a certain number of runners, and any additional runners let on course could jeopardize future races.

Can i get in on race morning?

Please, please don’t show up on race morning attempting to run the race. As stated above, we are limited to a # of runners each year, per our permit, and cannot go over. If you have questions about your position on the waitlist, please email the Race Directors ahead of time.
