RACEDAY REMINDERS
The Course:
Course Markings:
Knee-height black and white directional signage at course junctions.
Tree-hung white ribbon that you will see about every 2-5 minutes of running
Course maps and GPX files can be downloaded under the Course Description drop-down on this website.
If you make a wrong turn, back track until you find sign or ribbon you missed, then resume on course.
Parts of this course are quite technically challenging. Pay attention to your footing as you encounter loose rock and jagged grounded obstacles. Sturdy trail shoes are strongly recommended.
Little overhead shade: especially into the afternoon hours, heat and sun exposure may play a big part in your race. Remember to hydrate well. Don’t underestimate the risks of heat and sun exposure.
Aid Stations:
Drop bags for the 50K runners are accessible at Black Mountain Ranch Aid Station.
2023 Update: Manzanita Aid Station (previously first aid station) has been REMOVED (no water/ice).
However, race volunteers will be stationed her to ensure runners stay on course, as there is a major junction at this point in the race for all distances.
Dropping from the Race:
If you need to drop from the race, it is your responsibility to turn in your bib to the aid station captain. If you’ve left an aid station, you must make it to the next aid station to turn in your bib. Do not return to a previous aid station as it may have already closed. If you do not notify the aid station captain and turn in your bib, you will be responsible for any costs related to search and rescue to make sure you are safe and accounted for.
The Finish:
You will be provided your finisher’s medal after you cross the finish line. Refreshments and pizza will be provided for runners.
